My name is Mark Jaress. For more than four decades, I have worked where art and technology meet—as a photographer, digital artist, entrepreneur, and developer of digital imaging tools.
During 15 years as a digital asset manager and staff photographer, I developed systems to organize images and make them easier to find and use. I also founded Zazzu Fine Art Printing, bringing together my love of art and my attention to digital detail to produce fine art prints for clients.
I co-founded Altamira, Inc., where we developed Genuine Fractals, a collection of Photoshop plugins. Later, as an award-winning senior digital artist, I created websites, games, and interactive experiences for major television and film studios.
I have been an avid reader since childhood, with a particular love of science and science fiction. On Medium, I write about the subjects that have shaped my work: photography, printmaking, digital asset management, and imaging technology. I’m interested in how creative work shapes technology—and how technology changes what artists can make.
